Obituary and Memorial Service Information for Margaret A. Coffin in Guelph

Of Guelph, passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington surrounded by her family on Tuesday November 7, 2023, at the age of 88 years.

Loved mother of Janet Harris and Nancy Coffin (Suresh Kumar). Loving grandmother of Marina, Victoria, and Karan. Cherished great grandmother of Ava and Myles. Predeceased by her husband Rex, sister, Mary Lou and brothers, Gordon and Donald.

Proudly born in Grimsby, Ontario, Margaret was raised in Fort Erie, where she enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially tagging along with her oldest brother, Gordon, and babysitting her nephews, Nelson, Neil, and Paul.

She felt fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel the world with her family, living in England, Colombia, South Africa, the USA and throughout Canada.

Margaret was fascinated by how people lived their lives, often choosing to read biographies. She delighted in hearing about all of her extended family’s adventures and accomplishments.

She loved music and could usually be heard humming or singing a familiar tune.

Margaret was a believer in the power of lifelong education. She always had a book or course on the go and encouraged everyone around her to keep learning something new. Her favourite gift to give was a book.

When her family teased her, she would always say, “You’re going to miss me when I’m gone”. And we do.

Friends will be received at WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 5:00 – 8:00pm. Arrangements entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com).

Memorial contributions to Friends of the Guelph Public Library would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Margaret A. Coffin in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
