NEW DELHI, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) — Local officials in the northern Indian state of Haryana on Thursday At least six people reportedly died and two fell ill after consuming fake liquor in two villages of Yamunanagar district.
Reports indicate that the group drank fake alcohol on Tuesday night (Nov. 7), after which they began vomiting. Five of them died a short time later. Three others were taken to a private hospital but one died. The rest are undergoing treatment.
Family members of the first five victims were cremated without autopsies. But police said one body was kept at the hospital for an autopsy. which will be carried out in the next time
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and are investigating the suspects involved. The information will be disclosed only after a detailed investigation and complete evidence collection.
Incidentally, cases of death from consuming fake liquor occur frequently in India. This is because people often drink illegal liquor that is produced at home and is cheap.
