Now that the euphoria surrounding the announcement of Grand Theft Auto VI’s December presentation is slowly fading, we can analyze the latest information from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. He suggested, among other things, that the game could use artificial intelligence models to create a more interactive world.
The corporation’s helmsman took part in the conference of the International Paley Council (via Inverse), during which he referred to the use of AI in the gaming industry. Zelnick did not hide the fact that he is an advocate of introducing this type of solutions, which can significantly affect the quality of the game, especially in relation to NPCs. In his opinion, thanks to artificial intelligence, NPCs can become more interesting and funnier.
You control a playable character and interact with an NPC. This interaction is currently scripted and the NPCs are not very interesting. However, you can imagine that all NPCs suddenly become really interesting and funny – he explained.
Although the use of artificial intelligence in the gaming industry may bring many benefits, according to Zelnick, this process will certainly not be quick, much less cheap.
Our strategy is to be the most creative, the most innovative and the most efficient company in the industry, and I think AI probably meets all three criteria. But don’t expect the price [gier – dop. red.] will fall. Just expect that everything will get better – he explained during a recent meeting with investors (via GamesRadar).
And although Zelnick now eagerly supports the development of AI, let us recall the situation from a few months ago, when Rockstar Games allegedly removed from the Internet a fan modification (and all traces of it) Sentient Streets, which, thanks to artificial intelligence, enabled conversations with NPCs in GTA V.
An introvert by vocation. Since childhood, he felt a closer connection with humanism than with the exact sciences. Instead of calculating how many cats Al has, he preferred to isolate himself in his world and invent new stories about his favorite anime – Dragon Ball. After years of learning, there came a time of stagnation, which he preferred to call “searching for a life goal”. Looking for fate during the 58th screening of his beloved Die Hard, he decided – like John McCLane – to fight for a better future. The editorial staff of Gry-Online.pl came to the rescue and took him under their wing. The author covers a variety of topics. So you can expect news from “The Grim Reaper” about the farming simulator and the impact of Johnny Depp’s trial on the future of Pirates of the Caribbean. If you ever hear that playing on the console and watching movies will not lead to anything – remember Kamil.
