In the science fiction film “Operation Ganymede” (Germany 1977), directed, written and produced by “Fleisch” director Rainer Erler, five astronauts have to make an emergency landing after a mission lasting several years on Earth, which appears to be completely deserted. Film- und Fernsehenjuwelen GmbH will release the prominently cast feature film with Horst Frank, Dieter Laser, Jürgen Prochnow, Uwe Friedrichsen and Claus Theo Gärtner as a world premiere with exclusive extras on Blu-ray Disc. The dystopian TV production, which was also shown in cinemas in 1980, will be released on February 22, 2024 by Alive AG as a “Special Edition” in a keep case with a reversible cover, slipcase and booklet by Jens Uwe Bauer. The bonus material includes an audio commentary by Benedikt Wilken and Leonhard Elias Lemke, a radio interview with Dieter Laser, trailer and the “Rainer Erler tells” featurettes “From Bavaria to the Pentagramma” and “Operation Ganymede”.
