He called, introducing himself as an Israeli military officer. There have been several such threatening calls from the army in the past. All of them were pre-recorded messages. The content was that the area was about to be bombed and to evacuate immediately. They were addressed to those in the middle and north of the Gaza Strip to go to southern Gaza. However, today someone called directly. Mehavish said that the conversation started by calling his name.
There are around 30 members in Mehavish’s family. A total of 20 minutes was allowed to leave the house with them. Al Jazeera reported that the Israeli move was intended to intimidate and silence Mehwish, who reports for Al Jazeera from Gaza City.
