The South Kalimantan (Kalsel) Provincial Government, through the South Kalimantan Health Service, launched a national hepatitis vaccination for medical personnel and health workers at the South Kalimantan Province level in Banjarmasin.
The launch of hepatitis vaccination was carried out virtually simultaneously with the Minister of Health in 8 Provinces.
Head of the South Kalimantan Health Service, Diauddin, through the Head of Disease Prevention and Control, Anhar Ihwan, said that hepatitis B infection in the world and in Indonesia is still a major health problem.
Health workers are a group at high risk of contracting and transmitting hepatitis B horizontally, so it is very important to protect health workers from hepatitis B transmission as one of the efforts to accelerate the achievement of eliminating hepatitis B by 2030.
Therefore, Hepatitis B immunization for medical personnel and health workers will be implemented in 38 provinces and 13 districts/cities including Banjarmasin in stages starting November 8 2023.
“So the administration of the hepatitis B vaccine is preceded by a rapid HBsAg screening and a rapid anti-HBs test,” said Anhar, Thursday (9/11/2023).
He explained that the temporary target for health workers and health workers in South Kalimantan who will be given vaccinations is around 9,192 with the criteria of doctors, dentists, nurses, midwives, ATLM.
“There are 9,192 doses of vaccine available and they have been distributed to all districts/cities in South Kalimantan,” he said.
He hopes that today’s launch activities will run smoothly and will continue with the implementation of vaccinations for all health workers in 13 districts/cities.
