The police again summoned former national team fencer Nam Hyun-hee (42), who was booked on suspicion of being an accomplice to Jeon Cheong-jo (27) on fraud charges, for questioning. During the first cross-examination, which included the parents who sued Jeon Cheong-jo and Nam Hyun-hee, the statements of both sides were conflicting.
Songpa Police Station in Seoul summoned and interrogated Nam Hyun-hee as a suspect over a 13-hour period from 10 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. on the 8th. On the 8th, Nam Hyun-hee posted a series of statements on SNS, which had been made private after the controversy, saying, “To me, even the fact that (Mr. Jeon) was breathing was a lie. “I am the biggest victim in this situation,” she said, once again denying the allegations of collusion.
He said, “I was also deceived by Jeon Qingjo, who was a lie in everything except his name. “Jeon Cheong-jo sent his luggage to my house to accuse me of being an accomplice,” he claimed. At the same time, he said, “For 26 years, he lived with the Taegeuk symbol on his chest and devoted his life to promoting national prestige. I don’t know how much longer I can endure. “Do I really have to die for this incident to end?” he appealed.
This suspicion arose when Nam Hyun-hee announced her marriage to Jeon through an interview with Women’s Chosun on the 23rd of last month. Immediately after the report, Jeon’s fraud record, controversy over gender reassignment, and suspicion of impersonating the third generation of a chaebol were revealed one after another, ultimately leading to a police investigation.
Since then, complaints and indictments related to Mr. Jeon’s fraud charges have been filed one after another at Seoul’s Songpa Police Station, Gangseo Police Station, and Jungbu Police Station, and the police are investigating a total of 12 related cases by merging them with Songpa Police Station.
The police plan to detain Mr. Jeon at around 7:30 a.m. on the 10th.
