Monkeypox Cases Surge in DKI Jakarta: 30 Positive Cases Reported

JawaPos.com – Cases of monkeypox or monkey pox have increased again in DKI Jakarta. As of November 7 2023, there were a total of 30 positive cases of monkeypox. This addition emerged since the rediscovery of the monkey pox case on October 13 2023.

“There are a total of 30 positive cases,” said Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Immunization Section of the DKI Jakarta Health Office, Ngabila Salama, to reporters, Wednesday (8/11).

He detailed that the first case was on August 1 2022, which has since recovered. Then another case was found on October 13 2023. Another case was found on October 19 and the number increased on October 21 2023 with five cases, two cases on October 23 2023, and 3 cases on October 24 2023.

Meanwhile, 2 cases also increased on 25 October 2023, 2 other cases were discovered on 26 October 2023, 1 case on 27 October 2023, 1 case on 28 October 2023, 2 cases on 29 October 2023, 3 cases on 30 October 2023, and 2 cases on 31 October 2023.

Then 1 case on November 1 2023, 2 cases on November 2 2023, 1 case on November 3 2023, 1 case on November 6 2023, and 1 case on November 7 2023.

“There are 29 active positive cases, PCR positivity rate 25%, all have mild symptoms, all were infected from sexual contact, all men aged 25-50 years*,” said Ngabila.

Apart from that, Ngabila revealed that as many as 7 people who were declared suspects or suspected of having symptoms were also still undergoing examination.

As many as 92 people have been declared PCR negative for monkeypox.

“The total number of vaccination recipients is 495 people (from the target of 495 people),” concluded Ngabila.
