Red Bull secured its drivers for the 2024 season and despite the rumors and criticism of ‘Checo’ Pérez, the Mexican will remain at Red Bull.
According to former driver and now journalist Martin Brundle, he assured that Red Bull has no doubt that Max Verstappen and the Mexican Sergio Pérez will be their drivers for the 2024 season.
Brundle stressed that Red Bull does not plan to lose Checo and that it seeks to keep him in the team at all costs, even if he does not finish as runner-up in the world.
“I stand by what I have said in the last races. I think Red Bull absolutely wants to continue with Pérez next year and will do everything possible to make that happen,” the journalist highlighted.
“There is a current contract and they do not want to change it, for several reasons. That’s what they’re aiming for right now,” Brundle highlighted at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Czech in Red Bull despite runner-up finish
After so many rumors that Checo’s future depended on whether or not he achieved second place in the drivers’ championship, Brundle confirmed that his future does not depend on it.
“People who know have told me categorically that it is not about finishing second in the championship. You certainly need to have solid careers,” he highlighted.
After the Brazilian Grand Prix, Checo managed to score more points than the Briton and now has a lead of 32 points. The Mexican competes for second place, behind his teammate Max Verstappen.
