Huawei P70: New In-House Components and Sensors Development Update

When Huawei launched the Mate 60 devices, Kirin chipsets equipped with 5G modems came under the cover of smartphones again, meaning that the manufacturer used its own instead of Qualcomm’s solutions. The Chinese company is working on the creation of another in-house developed component, which will be none other than the sensor serving in the cameras of the P70.

Huawei has been using Sony’s sensors in its phones since time immemorial, but it may end this habit soon. THE Fixed Focus Digital A leaker named recently reported that Sony and Huawei have not renewed their contract and that Huawei does not have additional stocks of Sony sensors.

From this, the insider concluded that the members of the Huawei P70 series may have cameras inside which sensors developed in-house can serve. Independence is not at all new in the ranks of Huawei, after their collaboration with Leica was terminated, they created the XMAGE department, whose platform includes a customized NPU module.

Huawei is also working on other components behind the scenes. A new optical fingerprint reader module is also said to be in development, also for the P70 series. Of course, the company has not yet commented on these reports, but the next time they hold a larger presentation, they will certainly report on the development of in-house components. Such an occasion may take place at the beginning of next year at the earliest.

Huawei started developing its own alternatives because it was forced to do so. It seems that the American trade bans can be good for the Chinese company in the long run, as they can become even more independent. To what extent, it will become really obvious only when the P70 series arrives.
