Fiorentina was sentenced to a suspended match behind closed doors, after racist chants were uttered by ultras against three Juventus players, Serie A decided on Tuesday.
The insults targeted Dusan Vlahovic, Moise Kean and Weston McKennie before and after the 0-1 home defeat to Juve on Sunday.
Serie A specified that the sanction would run for one year, and that at the slightest racial action, it would be transformed into a closed session for a match, with additional sanctions at each reiteration.
These racial abuses are part of a series of incidents in Italian football, where far-right fan groups are regularly present. Which results in increasingly frequent discrimination in the stands.
In August, the United Nations committee in charge of combating racism “sounded the alarm” about Italian football, denouncing acts of “physical and verbal violence against players of African origin “.
In addition, the word “gypsy” is notably used by supporters groups as an insult aimed at players from Eastern Europe and the Blakans, regardless of their origins.
