The PGE Rysice Rzeszów volleyball players did not have an easy task at the inauguration of the Champions League. They had to face Allianz MTV Stuttgart, the German champions. For a long time, the Polish runner-up didn’t look their best, but in difficult moments they were able to pull themselves together and fought until the very end. The match was decided only in the tie-break, in which the Rzeszów team showed their class and won 23:25, 26:24, 17:25, 25:23, 15:12.
In the last season of the Champions League, the PGE Rysice Rzeszów team reached the quarterfinals, only then the Eczacibasi Istanbul team (later finalists) turned out to be better. The Rzeszów team certainly dreams of repeating this result. The first challenge they faced in the current competition was a match against Allianz MTV Stuttgart, the German champions, who were also in the quarterfinals of the Champions League last season.

In the first set, the Polish runners-up had a slight advantage for a long time. However, the opponents did not give up and the score was 22:22. In the end, they looked better and won 25:23.
At the beginning of the second game, the Germans were still more effective. It lasted until the score was 10:10, then the Rzeszów team dominated and even took a seven-point lead. Over time, they completely lost their effectiveness and wasted four set points. They only used the fifth one and won 26:24.
The next set started very similarly to the previous one. The difference was that this time the Stuttgart volleyball players did not squander their advantage of several points, but actually gradually increased it, taking advantage of their opponents’ weak period. The dull faces of the PGE Rysic Rzeszów substitutes before the first set ball spoke for themselves. Ultimately, the German champions won 25:17. In the fourth game, the game was even again. This heralded great emotions at the end, in which the Rzeszów team did better and the score ended 25:23.
At the beginning of the tie-break, neither team clearly had the upper hand, and both sides were slightly nervous. At 10:10, the Polish team took the challenge, thanks to which they gained a valuable point. After a while, the Germans hit a throw-in and victory was very close. The Rzeszów team did not squander it and won 15:12.
