AC Milan managed to beat Paris Saint Germain 2-1 in the fourth matchday of Group F Liga Champions. The Hell group is now getting hotter.
Milan vs PSG took place at the San Siro, Wednesday (8/11/2023) early morning WIB. Les Parisiens took an early 1-0 lead through Milan Skriniar and Rafael Leao soon responded to bring Milan back to 1-1.
The situation turned around in the second half. Olivier Giroud got his name on the scoreboard to make Milan win 2-1.
This result makes Milan’s chances of competing in the Hell Group alive again. Davide Calabria et al are in third place with five points and PSG are in second place with six points.
Borussia Dortmund takes over at the top of the standings with seven points. Newcastle United slumped to the bottom with four points.
The Course of the Match
PSG was able to take a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute. Milan Skriniar scored a goal with a header after snatching the ball from Marguinhos’ header.
Milan quickly responded to equalize the score at 1-1 in the 12th minute. The rebound from Olivier Giroud’s shot was successfully met by Rafael Leao’s overhead shot.
PSG had a golden opportunity in the 24th minute. Already facing the goalkeeper, Kylian Mbappe failed to break AC Milan’s goal.
Ousmane Dembele almost broke into Milan’s goal in the 26th minute when his shot hit the crossbar. Not long ago, Giroud wasted the opportunity of a counter-attack after his shot was still aimed at the outside of the PSG goal net.
Gianluigi Donnarumma managed to save PSG’s goal. He saved a free shot from Yunus Musha in the 32nd minute.
Leao almost broke into Donnarumma’s goal again in the 36th minute. He stabbed into the penalty box and fired a shot, but the ball went narrowly wide of the goal.
PSG really made it difficult through Milan’s direct play. However, until halftime the score remained 1-1.
Milan appeared to be pressing from the start of the second half. As a result, Giroud was able to bring Milan back to a 2-1 lead with a header in the 50th minute.
Milan’s attacks increased even more after taking the lead. Several times PSG struggled to reduce the pressure from Stefano Pioli’s troops.
Milan almost added a goal in the 85th minute. Noah Okafor’s shot went towards PSG’s far post, but Donnarumma was still able to make the save.
There were no additional goals in the remainder of the second half. Milan also finished with a 2-1 win.
