Tragic Death of 14-Year-Old Boy in Florida After Running 5K: Heart Attack Causes Shock

A 14 year old boy in Florida, United States, who was running a 5K died after suffering a heart attack. He took part in a 5K run held by his school.

Quoted from NBC Newspolice said in a statement that they discovered the teenager was in cardiac arrest when they arrived at the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) 5K at Everglades High School in Miramar, Florida.

After the teen arrived at Miramar Memorial Hospital, doctors pronounced him dead. The student was Knox MacEwen, who participated in the JROTC program at Western High School in Davie, Florida, and volunteered at his church in children’s ministry.

Her mother, Julie, recently suffered from cancer, and the family is still grappling with the physical and financial impacts of her illness.

Western High School announced that grief counselors will be available for students who need support following the incident.

“I am saddened to share tragic news impacting our Wildcat community. One of our JROTC students died this morning after being taken to the hospital,” Jimmy Arrojo, principal of Western High School, said in a statement.
