Samsung Launches Auto Blocker: The Newest Security and Privacy Feature in One UI 6 for Samsung Galaxy Devices

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Samsung launched their newest security and privacy feature in One UI 6, namely Auto Blocker, for Samsung Galaxy device users.

Auto Blocker is an option that packs additional security measures, giving users more options as they explore the customization that Samsung Galaxy’s open ecosystem allows.

Dr. Seungwon Shin, EVP & Head of Security Team, Mobile eXperience Business, Samsung Electronics said, with Auto Blocker, users can continue to enjoy their open ecosystem, but remain confident in device security.

“We continue to empower our users to choose for themselves what best suits their needs – rather than us deciding on their behalf, and Auto Blocker is no exception,” he said, quoted from a press release, Tuesday (7/11/2023).

One of Auto Blocker’s security features is preventing the installation of applications from unauthorized sources, known as sideloading.

Samsung said, there are many benefits from sideloading intentional ones, such as increased customization and control over device functionality. Those who like to do sideload safely, there will be no changes because this feature is disabled automatically default.

However, for those who do not have the habit of doing so sideloading or extensive customization, enabling Auto Blocker can provide more peace of mind.

This is because the Android security feature blocks the rise of social engineering attacks such as phishing sound, through which attackers can persuade users to install malicious software.

Additionally, Samsung’s Auto Blocker also has a series of additional controls, including enabling app security checks, to help detect potential errors malware and prevent installation of the and commands software dangerous via USB cable.

This can help protect users in situations where someone has physical access to their device, such as when charging their phone at the airport.

This feature also brings updates to Message Guard, which mitigates Zero Click attacks, or live image messages that hide malicious code. Samsung’s Auto Blocker will be available on One UI 6 compatible devices.
