Hostage Crisis at Hamburg Airport: Flights Suspended and Passengers Stranded

[The Epoch Times, November 05, 2023]The official spokesperson of the Hamburg police in Germany said that since early Sunday morning local time, all flights in and out of Hamburg Airport have been stopped, and the German police are trying to “ease” a “family incident”. Farce” hostage crisis.

The spokesman said a 35-year-old man drove his car through security at the airport on Saturday and parked his car under a plane. The driver and his 4-year-old daughter were still in the vehicle as of midnight Sunday, the spokesperson added.

Reuters reported that police said the incident occurred at around 8pm local time on Saturday. A gunman drove a car through a barrier into Hamburg Airport.

Hamburg Airport’s official website announced late Saturday that all flights had been suspended due to the major police action.

“Due to measures taken by the federal police, takeoffs and landings are currently unavailable,” the website said.
