Exciting Updates and Features for Overwatch 2 in 2024: Clash Game Mode, Hero Mastery, and More!

During BlizzCon over the weekend, Blizzard not only announced the next hero joining the Overwatch 2 lineup, but also announced a slew of features and improvements coming to the game in 2024.

Leading the way is a new game mode called Clash, where players battle across five objectives and continue to do so until a team captures all five points. To get this new mode off the ground, Blizzard revealed a map that will be exclusive to Clash’s game. This is called Hanaoka, and is actually a remastered and redesigned version of Hanamura for this new game mode.

Otherwise, Blizzard notes that in 2024 we can expect a new three-player Hero Mastery: Gauntlet mode that tests your skills against robotic enemies and tower defense mechanics. Additionally, Mei, D.Va, Echo, Lucio, and Genji are all receiving Hero Mastery support in the upcoming Season 8.

For fans of competitive players, we’re told there will be a series of improvements to how you track and view your progress as a ranked player. There will also be more seamless ranking progression mechanics that appear to move away from the currently used system where players need to win a specific number of games before their rankings can be adjusted.

As for other new heroes, we’re told that in Season 10, a new damage character called Venture will arrive, and then in Season 12, a new support called Space Ranger will also debut.

What are you most excited to see coming to Overwatch 2 in 2024?
