In the Montana region, the mayor fell – a record holder in mandates. Medkovec and Berkovitsa have new mayors. Boychinovtsi was re-elected by the previous mayor.
A second round for the election of a mayor was held in three municipalities in the Montana region. Medkovets will be managed by a new mayor. GERB’s candidate Veromir Spasov won with 50 votes over the incumbent Ventsislav Evgeniev.
In the last 32 years, Evgeniev was at the head of the Medkovets municipality and held the record with 8 mandates in the Montana region, BNR reported.
Berkovitsa municipality also has a new mayor. This is Radoslav Naydenov. The candidate of the local BSP coalition for Bulgaria beat the previous mayor Dimitranka Kamenova from GERB by more than 2%.
In Boychinovtsi, Svetlin Sreteniev begins his fourth term, defeating Nikolay Nachev from GERB in the runoff with 93 votes.
