A 22-year-old Guatemalan soccer player was murdered in an armed attack on Saturday night in the Agraria Pensamiento Chuvá community, Colomba Costa Cuca, Quetzaltenango.
This is Juan Carlos Alvarado Muz, who played for Deportivo San Francisco.

According to the first versions, Alvarado Muz was attacked by unknown persons when he was in the area. He was transported in a private car and later helped by Volunteer firefighters from the 119th Company. From Colomba Costa Cuca, who took him to the national hospital in Coatepeque, minutes later, local media reported his death.
The player would have been shot in the head, so nothing could be done to save him.

Guatemalan soccer player murdered and his community demands justice
The news has shocked the community in San Martín Sacatepéquez, where Alvarado Muz was originally from.
The funeral of Alvarado Muz will take place this Monday starting at 11 a.m. in the Cemetery of the Finca San Isidro Maldonado, in the Aldea la Loma, San Martín Sacatepéquez, Quetzaltenango.
The National Civil Police (PNC) investigates the armed attack that ended the life of Alvarado Muz.
The authorities have not released any clues about those responsible for the crime.
Family and friends of Alvarado Muz demand justice for his death.
“We demand that the authorities investigate this crime and capture those responsible,” said a relative of the victim.
The murder of Alvarado Muz is a new episode of violence in Guatemala.
