The Buxerolles history and heritage association (BHP) is organizing a guided tour of the Saint-Jacques – Saint-Philippe church, known as the “town church”, on Sunday November 12, 2023, at 3 p.m. This church is placed under the patronage of the holy apostles James and Philip, as affirmed by the inscription painted on the triumphal arch at? the entrance to the choir. The very modest church of the 11th was the subject of enlargements in the 17th and 19th centuries. The rebuilt church was consecrated on August 25, 1869. The gallery, above the first bay, was completed. built by the abbot? Colin, cure? of the parish, episcopal chaplain, in 1958 (1).
This visit, focused on the stained glass windows, will be commented by BHP representatives: Michèle Jodet, Marie Hélène Roux and André Dupont. The visit will present a history of the building, the history of glass and stained glass, the Buxerolles triptych stained glass window, the theme of the heart and the plaque (ex-voto) by Léa Laverré.
At the end of the free visit, open to all, the Gazette des Buis (annual) will be offered for sale.
