In recent years, every time summer approaches, thousands of Tucumans begin to fear for their health, since the “dengue season” is approaching.
So far in 2023, Tucumans have suffered the worst outbreak in recent years. There were 39,660 confirmed infections. Tucumán was the most affected province in the country with 131,812 reported cases, according to official data.
Against this backdrop, elected legislator Agustín Romano Norri presented a project for the Ministry of Health to implement a vaccination plan against dengue to mitigate the risks of the disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. In addition, he requested a report to find out what type of measures are being carried out or planned to be adopted for the prevention and control of dengue.
“Taking into account that dengue is an endemic disease in the Province and the risk for everyone increases every year, the implementation of a vaccination campaign makes it possible to prevent the disease, reducing and mitigating its most serious impact and also avoiding overload. of the Health system,” stated the radical parliamentarian.
At the same time, he added that “although the vaccine cannot stop the dengue outbreak, it must be linked to public health action such as waste disposal and environmental sanitation of neighborhoods. “This allows the density of the virus in the community to be considerably lowered.”
