State Theater Exhibition Showcases Aguascalientes Stage Work: “El Vuelo de Papa” and “Essays About Loss” Address Important Social Issues

One of the purposes of the State Theater Exhibition, which began last Saturday, is to offer the public a representative sample of the stage work of Aguascalientes.

The truth is that, in Aguascalientes, there are actors, producers, directors, writers and promoters of this discipline, who put extraordinary works on stage.

One of the many examples are the productions “El Vuelo de Papa”, by Lotería Teatro; and “Essays About Loss”, by Grupo Teatral Al Rescate, which turn the performing arts into a means to raise awareness about two great evils of these times: suicide and depression.

DAD’S FLIGHT:

The first is a play written by Althia Díaz, a young actress and stage creator, who graduated from the Bachelor’s Degree in Theater at the University of the Arts. In her work, Díaz addresses the topic of depression, and how it affects not only the person who suffers from it, but also those around them. Just like Matilda and Fantino, two brothers who embark on a journey in search of their father, who has disappeared; It seems that he traveled too far from this planet, and needs to be rescued.

The direction of this text by teacher Lourdes Delgadillo, as well as teacher Martín Layune, through shadow theater and puppets, reveals to the public the perception that children may have of this situation, revalidating their opinion and their position within families and society in general. This production premiered within the Cultural Program of the 2023 San Marcos National Fair.

It is aimed at audiences over 8 years of age and will be presented at the State Theater Exhibition, on Tuesday, November 7, at 5:00 p.m., at the Morelos Theater; with a cost of 50 pesos per person.

ESSAYS ON LOSS:

It premiered in May of this year. It is a work directed by maestro Axel García, with the collaboration of Ely Rueda, Mónica Zenyazen and Carlos Guemer.

The staging talks about suicide, from the testimonies of people who have suffered the loss of a loved one, with the intention of contributing to the destigmatization of suicide; but, above all, making visible the importance and urgency of addressing mental health.

The director, Axel García, shared that this scenic device was created from the need to address this issue and the impact it has had on Aguascalientes society, through documentary theater, street theater, post drama and unconventional bio drama.

The work is the result of the Program of Stimulus for the Artistic Creation of Aguascalientes (PECDA), and the Program of Stimulus for the Creation of the System of Scenic Creators.

It is aimed at people over 15 years of age; It is recommended that adolescents come accompanied by an adult, with the intention of being oriented on the subject.

“Essays on Loss” will be presented on Monday, November 6, at 5:00 p.m., in the First Patio of the “Víctor Sandoval” House of Culture, with free admission.
