The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, instructed by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, will begin a working visit to the Republic of Slovenia on Sunday evening, indicates a press release from the ministry.
This visit, which comes at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of this friendly country, Tanja Fajon, “is part of the joint efforts aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the context of the activation of the exchange of diplomatic representation through the opening of embassies in the capitals of the two countries, and to explore new prospects for Algerian-Slovenian cooperation in several economic areas,” specifies the same source.
It also aims to “deepen the political dialogue on regional and international issues which are at the heart of the concerns of the two countries, in particular the developments of the situation in the Middle East and in the Sahel region, as well as several other issues included in the “agenda of the Security Council, especially as Algeria and Slovenia are preparing to join this UN body as non-permanent members” from January 1, 2024, according to the press release.
During his visit, Mr. Attaf is expected to meet with his Slovenian counterpart and be received by the country’s President, Natasa Pirc Musar, as well as by the President of the National Council of Slovenia, Urska Klakocar Zupancic.
He will also have a meeting with the Minister of Environment, Climate and Energy, Bojan Kumer, knowing that Algeria is one of the main suppliers of natural gas to Slovenia, the press release concludes.
