A family is in mourning after a 12-year-old girl who used a wheelchair died in a house fire in the Bronx.
At around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, firefighters and Emergency Medical Service workers responded to the call about the fire in a two-story house located at 42-23 Boyd Avenue in the area of Wakefield.
The minor was reportedly found unconscious and with severe burns on her body. Her death was declared at the scene.
Meanwhile, a 7-year-old boy was taken to Jacobi Hospital with minor injuries and a man refused medical attention.
14 units and about 70 firefighters were needed to extinguish the flames.
The investigation to determine the cause of the accident remains ongoing.
