FAJAR.CO.ID, PALU — Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman visited grape farmers in Palu City on the sidelines of the Agricultural Extension Jamboree, Sunday (5/11/2023).
This visit is to increase the development of farmers’ grape cultivation by implementing precision farming or smart farming, so that the productivity and quality of grapes increases and the welfare of farmers increases because the grapes produced are not only for domestic needs, but must be able to be exported.
“I appreciate the farmers of the Duyu Bangkit farmer group. Now they are productive and already producing. We know that Indonesia imports grapes of approximately IDR 7 trillion. Central Sulawesi can complete this import. I am sure that in the next 5 years it can be completed. This will reduce foreign exchange, improve welfare farmers because the agro-climate is suitable,” said Minister of Agriculture Amran when inspecting the vineyard of the Duyu Bangkit Farmers Group in Duyu Village, Tatanga District, Palu City.
Amran explained that the enthusiasm for cultivating grape farmers in Palu City must be increased with breakthrough agricultural innovations that can increase productivity so that the break event point (BEP) which was initially 3 years becomes 1 year. This is done by implementing precision farming or smart farming.
“Of course, we also help the accompanying farmers by bringing in experts. Earlier there was also a request for a coper, we also helped. If the farmer makes a profit, then the farmer will get up on his own to start planting a lot. But if the farmer makes a loss, he will definitely stop so he needs supervision,” he explained. .
