The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics announced the preliminary data for the manufacturing and extractive industries production index for the month of August 2023.
The industrial sectors that achieved an increase were the index number for the food products industry reaching 129.41 during the month of August 2023 compared to the month of July 2023, when it reached 122.39, an increase of 5.74%, according to the needs of the market.
The index for the pharmaceutical, chemical and pharmaceutical industry reached 114.76 during the month of August 2023 compared to the month of July 2023, where it reached 99.32, an increase of 15.55%, according to market needs.
On the other hand, there are economic activities that witnessed a decline, as the index for the basic metals industry reached 57.95 during the month of August 2023, compared to the month of July 2023, when it reached 59.66, a decrease of 2.87%, due to the availability of stores of the product.
The transportation equipment industry index reached 117.90 during the month of August 2023, compared to the month of July 2023, when it reached 121.29, a decrease of 2.79% due to the lack of operating orders.
