The meteoric career of this virtuoso songwriter born in Illinois can be described as dazzling. At only 29 years old he has become one of the greatest exponents of American Roots, traditional American music recovered and updated so that new generations can access it from the most absolute avant-garde. After various demos and demos, he debuted as Pokey LaFarge & The South City Three with several releases for the Free Dirt Records label.
But it was in 2011 after moving to Third Man Records and Rounder Records when he recorded his magical trilogy, albums that draw on the great classics of American folk, with stories of losers and marginalized people who delve into the literature of Steinbeck, Hemingway and Faulkner, always with enormous passion and lyricism in the lyrics.

The rural blues of Skip James, Sleepy John Estes or Bukka White are its greatest references, introducing elements of hot swing, early jazz and ragtime blues, thus creating an irresistible cocktail. In this way he recorded “Pokey LaFarge” (2012), “Something in the Water” (2015) and “Manic Revelations” (2017), achieving enormous popularity and a notable number of awards within the American independent music and revival circuit.
On this occasion he will present his new album “In The Blossom of Their Shade.” An album that is inspired by geographical places as distant as Africa, South America or the southwest of the United States. Taking those sounds as a reference, LaFarge formed a body of work that married emotional lyrics with catchy melodies and an irresistible groove.
Unlike the melancholy of his previous work, this “In The Blossom of Their Shade” is light and carefree, charismatic and full of light.
