BlizzCon 2023: Chris Metzen Announces New World of Warcraft Expansion “The War Within” and Unveils Worldsoul Saga

At the opening ceremony BlizzCon 2023 a number of important guests appeared: the President Blizzard Mike Ibarra, head Xbox Phil Spencer and others. But perhaps most significant for players was the appearance of Chris Metzen, the creator of the universes Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft.

As expected from Metzen, he announced the next addition to the modern version of World of Warcraft. And not just one. According to Metzen, the current story of World of Warcraft has been developing over the course of twenty years. And now the creators are preparing a new epic line that will last another twenty years.

The series of upcoming additions has been named Worldsoul Saga. It contains three upcoming additions: The War Within, Midnight and The Last Titan. Midnight will return players to the old world, reviving familiar locations. And The Last Titan will take us to the vastness of Northrend.

World of Warcraft: The War Within releases in 2024. In the first chapter of the Soul of the World Saga storyline, Anduin and Thrall will be drawn to each other by a shining vision emanating from the very heart of the world. And, as the trailer hints, it will be connected to the sword of Sargeras, which has been sticking out on the planet since the expansion.Legion».

The expansion will take players into the unknown underground worlds of the Nerubian empire, where the Herald of the Abyss and her army of arachnids are preparing to conquer Azeroth.

World of Warcraft: The War Within is now accepting pre-orders started, the regular edition was priced at $50. This includes leveling up to level 70. The upgraded Epic Edition provides access to beta testing and three-day early access to The War Within. And all versions include the current World of Warcraft: Dragonflight expansion.
