Russian car manufacturers AvtoVAZ, UAZ and Soller have encountered problems related to the delivery of finished products to brand dealers.
The sanctions imposed on Russia have manifested themselves in another area, writes the publication Motor.ru – a shortage of heavy road transport, which is involved in the transportation of passenger cars, has developed in the country, so the prices for this service have increased so much that the largest car manufacturers have turned to the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Industry and Trade with a request to solve this problem.
Citing information from RBC (RosBiznesConsulting), the mentioned publication writes that due to the lack of trucks and drivers, transportation costs have almost doubled, and the government does not regulate prices in this area.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Transport are “working on solving the problem” – various options are being considered, including “the production of truck carriers that meet all the requirements of automotive companies”. When and where such a production company will be established is not yet known.
With truckers in short supply, companies that own such equipment are inflating prices, while automakers are looking for ways to cover increased costs. For example, AvtoVAZ has asked the authorities to fully compensate the costs associated with the delivery of cars to non-CIS countries (now 80 percent are compensated), but the cost of purchasing a UAZ car will henceforth include the delivery price to the dealer in the amount of 50,000 rubles (approximately 500 euros).
AvtoVAZ and also UAZ have started selling some models on online platforms. In the case of UAZ, you can buy a new car this way at the factory price, but the waiting time is up to six months and you have to drive yourself after the purchase.
