McLaren Drivers’ Disappointing Qualifying Results: Norris 7th, Piastri 10th with Track Incident

The McLaren drivers did not qualify. Norris finished seventh, Piastri tenth after a trip off the track.

“The car was great. It was quick enough for us to be fastest and take pole,” said Lando Norris, as quoted by Motorsport Total.

“The car really came to life in qualifying and we had first place. Putting the whole bike together in the last part is, of course, something else. I’m disappointed. I don’t even know how to feel.’

“The car is good. I don’t know if it will be good in the wet and whether it will be wet or dry. But we should be fast enough on dry land.’

Norris eventually finished seventh in difficult conditions, 1.260 seconds behind Verstappen.

Oscar Piastri went off the track in the twelfth corner and lost no time. “I lost a lot of grip. I don’t know if it was already raining, but I already had a few problems during the round. I think the others were the same way.’

“I started the lap the same as the lap before and just went off the track. It’s a shame because it looked good. Now we have to see what exactly went wrong in the third part, because purely in terms of pace it was a good day.”
