WTT Champions Frankfurt (October 29, 2023 – November 5, 2023/Germany) On November 3, in the women’s singles quarterfinals, Hina Hayata (23 = Nippon Life Insurance / World No. 4) was defeated by Seci (28 = Romania / World No. 12) 3-2, advancing to the semi-finals.
Her opponent in the quarterfinals is Seci, a Romanian fairy who defeated Tokyo Olympic champion Chen Meng (29, China, 2nd place) in the second round.
Hayata has won all of the past four matches, and also won in straight sets in their match in August of this year. He is a good match for Hayata, but he is a formidable opponent who can become uncontrollable if he gains momentum.
In the first game, Seci, the opponent, displayed error-free play with both hands and took a massive lead of 2-10. Hayata attacked with his specialty foredrive, but it was blocked and he lost the game at 5-11.
However, Hayata immediately counterattacked. In the second game, he made use of his long serve and launched a series of attacks with quick hits and took back the game at 11-7.
In the third game, they had two unlucky nets in a row, allowing their opponent to take the lead at 1-6. Unable to break down both of Seci’s stable hands, the game was tied at 1-2.
They struggled with Seci’s serve and third pitch foredrive and lost the lead in the fourth game, but Hayata came back from 6-9 with an amazing five consecutive wins. The game goes back to a tie at 2-2.
In the fifth and final game, Hayata aggressively attacked his opponent’s back drive with a fore drive. In the end, he attacked the middle ball with his forehand and clinched the victory at 11-9.
