Elizabeth Throssell, spokeswoman for the High Commission, explained during a regular briefing in Geneva that the situation in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, is “worrying and calls for urgent action in light of the continuing increasing violations of a different nature.”
Palestinian journalist residing in the West Bank, Jamal Salem Al-Omrani, told Sky News Arabia:
⦁ There are almost daily raids on West Bank neighborhoods, while the number of detainees since October 7 has exceeded thousands.
⦁ The ambushes set up between neighborhoods do not exceed approximately 2 kilometers apart, and the Palestinians located in this area are not allowed to go further than that.
⦁ Women are also subjected to harassment, and those who object are beaten and dragged.
⦁ There is no Israeli settler who does not carry a weapon. Even young people are found carrying weapons and coming into contact with Palestinians and deliberately harming them, and whoever resists is shot with bullets.
⦁ Two days ago, a young man was killed here by a settler, and the soldiers were close to him and did not move.
⦁ Food and water supplies are not available throughout the day, and there are shops that have closed their doors due to the scarcity of goods.
⦁ Most of those who were in Israeli prisons and were released were arrested again without justification.
⦁ There are elderly people and patients who are unable to go to hospitals due to the intransigence of the Israeli forces. There is almost no life in the West Bank and schools are almost closed.
⦁ Going to Jerusalem and entering Al-Aqsa Mosque has become impossible. Even the elderly are now prohibited.
