Job offers in October were 2,900 fewer (-6%) than in the previous month. This is shown by the monthly analysis of one of the largest HR companies in our country. The difference in numbers is mainly due to a more noticeable drop in listings in the Hospitality & Restaurant, Trade & Sales and Manufacturing sectors.
On an annual basis, a steady decline of 7% (3,300 offers less) continues to be observed, which is mainly due to the reduced number of announcements in the IT sector.
In almost all sectors, a drop in job advertisements was observed in October. The exceptions are the sectors “Marketing and Advertising” (60 offers more, 4% growth) and “Healthcare and Pharmacy” (130 offers more, 6% growth). The reason for most offers in the sector “Healthcare and pharmacy” is the posting of job positions in this sector for abroad. It should be noted that this is a standard practice by recruitment companies in this sector, but unlike previous years, in which this type of offer was promoted on the Bulgarian market mainly during the summer months, in 2023 these ads are present on job sites in the last quarter of the year as well.
The largest drop in offers was in the Hospitality and Restaurant sector (1080 offers less, 16% drop), followed by the Trade and Sales sectors (770 offers less, 7% drop), Manufacturing ( 570 offers less, 8% decrease), “Logistics and transport” (270 offers less, 6% decrease), IT (200 offers less, 6% decrease), “Administrative and service activities” (170 offers fewer, down 4%), Construction (130 fewer offers, down 5%) and Accounting, Auditing, Finance (60 fewer offers, down 3%).
According to analysis by HR company and career site JobTiger, year-on-year decline was also observed in most sectors. The most drastic continues to be in the IT sector, where the offers are 40% less compared to the same period in 2022.
Here again, we see notable growth in the Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals sector, the reasons for which coincide with those described above.
The “Trade and Sales” sector continues to occupy 1/4 of the job offers in the country. It definitely takes the first place with a share of 25%, followed by the sectors “Manufacturing” (17%) and “Hotel and Restaurant” (13%).
The share distribution in the other sectors is also unchanged compared to the previous month: “Logistics and transport” (10.8%), “Administrative and service activities” (10.7%), IT (8%) “Construction” (6%), “Healthcare and Pharmacy” (5.4%), “Accounting, Auditing, Finance” (4.8%), “Marketing and Advertising” (4%) and “Art” (1%).
Since the beginning of the year, the number of offers for work from home and/or remote work has decreased by 31% (3,050 fewer ads). Of course, this is directly related to the smaller number of announcements in the IT sector, in which this type of offer prevails.
Compared to September, we report a decrease of 4% in these ads, as a share of the total number they are 9%.
Job advertisements have decreased in all of the leading regional cities. In Sofia, the drop is 4%, and in the other cities it is: Plovdiv (-13%), Varna (-7%), Burgas (-11%), Ruse (-10%) and Stara Zagora (-13%).
As a share distribution in the city of Sofia the ads are 45%, and in the other cities they are as follows: Plovdiv (10%), Varna (8%), Burgas (4%), Ruse (3%) and Stara Zagora (3%) ).
