It looks like it’s being sucked into the engine…

“The cause is under investigation”

On October 26, 2023, a Boeing 737 (plane number: B-1457) of Xiamen Airlines parked at Hangzhou Airport, China, was discovered to be carrying an out-of-control power supply vehicle called “Mobile GPU (Ground Power Unit)”. The unit was damaged due to a collision.

At the time of the accident, the GPU was being towed by an airport vehicle, but as soon as the vehicle stopped, the GPU started running and ran out of control towards the parked 737. The driver and other staff members quickly got out of the car and made a frantic dash to try to stop the GPU, but they were unable to do so in time. It made contact with the outside of the right engine cover.

According to local media, the damaged aircraft has been repaired and has returned to normal operations. Xiamen Airlines announced this on its official account on the SNS Weibo on the 28th, stating that the cause is under investigation.
