New Productions at Willa Theater: “My Father’s Death” and “Lūkas’s Path”

At the beginning of November, “Willa theater” offers the audience two new productions – “My father’s death” directed by Vara Piņkis and the documentary odyssey “Lūkas ceļs”, directed by Įrts Īcis.

The play “Lūkas’s Path” tells about the dreams, work and life experiences of a Ukrainian refugee, a Latvian soldier and a German doctor of Latvian origin. During the long hours of travel between Riga and Kyiv, cars, countries and people change, while conversations and the road bring people together who have common tasks and goals.

The play is a conversation about the decisions made by a person and their impact on the lives of oneself and others, about responsibility towards oneself, one’s country, the world and the children who will have to live in our disordered world.

“Every time I came home after 48 or 56 hours, it felt like I had been on a long trip for a month. Home, reality and peace and the vestibular apparatus that has moved you for 48 hours, you still keep rocking.

I tried to combine all of this in an hour and 15-minute show, which is a view through the eyes of a child, because due to wars and the economic situation, we are actually borrowing both money and resources from future generations,” says Đcis in “900 seconds”.
