Audi A8, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class have been symbolic competitors for many decades now. Now, however, they all have plug-in hybrid versions focused on performance, which also have autonomy in pure electric mode and can be charged at the outlet. All three of these models were recently put on the starting line to race against each other.
Audi uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, which produces 462 hp, transmitted to all 4 wheels. The BMW M760e uses a 3.0-liter inline 6 engine and produces 571 hp, but it’s almost 200 kg heavier than the Audi, coming in at 2,525 kg. The traction is still integral.
The Mercedes S680e also has an in-line 6-cylinder engine that produces 510 hp, but the power is sent only to the rear axle.
Well, the first race was one in which the cars only competed electrically, if they can still run like that. And Mercedes won outright.
In the following races, with the gasoline engine involved, BMW won, although it was overtaken at the start by Audi. And later there were several races with a moving start, Mercedes was defeated by BMW, but not by Audi, which did not win a single race.
