National Online Baccalaureate Service: Pursuing High School Education Virtually and for Free

It is an alternative to pursue upper secondary education. In 2022, it served 172,411 students, of which 92 percent are over 18 years old.

Completing the level of study for free and virtually is possible through the National Online Baccalaureate Service. It is aimed at people who have a high school certificate and who wish to pursue high school studies regardless of age or place of residence.

The previous year it enrolled 5,941 students with disabilities and 10,802 people from indigenous, Afro-descendant communities or inhabitants of an indigenous language.

Curriculum

The program has virtual advisors and a tutor, this will allow the development of skills and scope of learning expected in the 23 modules, which last four weeks followed by two weeks of recovery activities for each one. The fixed school calendar includes two years and six months.

Of these modules, 21 cover the generic and disciplinary competencies of five curricular disciplinary fields, while two are intended to prepare students to develop professional, social and work competencies.

Upon completion, it issues an electronic certificate with official validity from the SEP. This allows you to continue to the higher level at any public or private university.

Registration and requirements

The next registration period runs from November 6 to 17, however, it is possible that it will close earlier if the 30 thousand forms that will enroll the students of the 60th generation are completed.

Requirements include having Mexican nationality or verify legal stay in Mexico if you are a foreign person, have the secondary school certificate or the corresponding equivalence resolution and count on two valid emails personal and non-transferable, that have not been used by other students in previous calls and remain active throughout the process. The documents needed include the CURP and birth certificate.

The portal adds that “Applicants must have computer equipment or a mobile device with internet access, or have the possibility of going to spaces with internet or connectivity points in libraries, schools, institutions, public places, among others.”.
