Cinema returns to all rural corners of the municipality of O Porriño (Pontevedra) this fall with the help of Cinemaldea, an initiative promoted by the Cans Festival next to the Town Hall. Through this program, for free in various villages the short films awarded at the festival during its last edition.
“Cinemaldea is for us a very important part of the Festival because Porriño, unfortunately, does not have a cinema and this is a way to bring cinema closer to the villages“explained the president of the Arela association today in the presentation of the initiative, which will experience its third edition in 2023.
“It’s about make Galician cinema more accessible, in addition to consolidating a film program throughout the year that transcends the dates on which the contest is held (Cans)”, added the mayor, Alejandro Lorenzo. The tapes that are part of the program will be 22 cansby Javier Sobrado and Cris Padín; Mariví, in memoryby Coral and Laura Piñeiro; Sandwich Catby David Fidalgo y Alice does thingsby Ángel Santos.
In this way, Cans cinema will reach various villages thanks to the collaboration with various cultural associations who will be in charge of hosting the screenings. The first session will be this Sunday November 5 in Orbenlle, at 6:00 p.m., in the A Lagoa cultural association. The Cinemaldea calendar will last until December 3 and will pass through the following places:
