The Knicks’ Offensive Struggles Continue Without Evan Fournier: New York Fans Demand Answers

By Adiel Kalonji | NBA Editor

The Knicks are having a complicated start to the season in which Evan Fournier has not taken part at all so far. Coming out of their defeat this Wednesday against the Cavaliers (89-95), many questions were asked by fans about the Frenchman.

After their victory the day before in Cleveland, this time it was the Knicks who hosted the Cavaliers this Wednesday. A meeting during which they offered a fairly mediocre show synonymous with defeat at home (89-95). Their problems were above all offensive, with them notably having one of the worst evenings in their history in terms of 3-point skill, with a pitiful 5/30 in the exercise:

The Knicks’ lowest 3-point percentages in a game (30 attempts minimum): 8.3% in 2020-21 against the Raptors; 13.5% in 2008-09 against the Suns; 16.7% in 2023-24 against the Cavaliers

The Knicks are sorely lacking in offensive consistency at the start of the season. What calls into question the use of Evan Fournier, who is one of their best snipers on paper. However, Tom Thibodeau still hasn’t brought him onto the floor until now. A stubbornness which clearly shows that the Frenchman is not part of his plans, but which has really annoyed fans of the franchise in recent hours:

Can someone explain to me how Thibodeau can be so stubborn about the management of Evan Fournier, when the Knicks shoot 14% (!!!) from 3 points??? God, I don’t understand…you can’t win in the modern NBA without the 3-pointer.

I beg you, play Evan Fournier

We’re shooting like shit tonight without RJ Barrett. Why isn’t he testing Evan Fournier? I can’t believe he doesn’t play it to take shots. I know he’s not in the rotation, but give him a chance for God’s sake…

A large number of New York fans find themselves in total incomprehension. Evan Fournier is in fact needed on the field given the clumsiness the team is currently showing. Unfortunately, Tom Thibodeau turns a deaf ear.
