Ferrari 488 GTE: Last Stage of FIA WEC 2023 at Bahrain International Circuit

On the occasion of the key event of FIA World Endurance Championship 2023the Bahrain 8 Hoursil Sakhir circuit will welcome four Ferrari 488 GTEs in the classe LMGTE Am. This competition represents the last event in which GTE configuration cars will be protagonists.

Within the Maranello team, four official drivers take part in the event: Davide Rigon, Lilou Wadoux, Alessio Rovera e Daniel Serra. The race will start Saturday 4 November to 2:00 pm (local time).

The 488 GTE present at the start are fresh from victory at the 6 Hours of Fuji in September, with Rigon, Thomas Flohr and Francesco Castellacci sharing the AF Corse car no. 54, occupying third position in the drivers’ standings with 73 points, just six points behind second place.

Furthermore, Wadoux, Rovera and Louis-Perez Companc with the Richard Mille – AF Corse car no. 83 arrive in Bahrain in seventh position with 53 points in the standings, having achieved success in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in April and the second step of the podium in Portimão.

The fleet also includes the Ferrari 488 GTE n°21 of AF Corse, driven by Franck Dezoteux, Simon Mann and Kei Cozzolino, and the n°57 of Kessel Racing, driven on the track by Takeshi Kimura, Esteban Masson and Daniel Serra, who returns to the wheel after missing the Japanese race.

Il Bahrain International Circuit5412 km long and made up of 15 curves, was inaugurated in 2004 and hosts a test of the FIA WEC since its inception in 2012. Ferrari boasts seven victories in the LMGTE classes, the latest of which in 2022 with Antonio Fuoco and Miguel Molina aboard the 488 GTE of AF Corse.

As for the program, the weekend begins today with the first two free practice sessions, at 12.15pm and 5.30pm (local time). The third free practice session will take place tomorrow at 12:00 (local time), followed by qualifying for the LMGTE Am class at 16:15 (local time). The green flag will fly at 2pm (local time) on Saturday, kicking off the 2023 Bahrain 8 Hours.
