At the same time, when asked what you would rather do than be left without a phone for a week, 14% of respondents named swimming with sharks, and 23% said holding a tarantula.

And although people are still afraid of heights (38%), spiders (31%) and roller coasters (24%), a fifth of respondents believe that their entry from the “modern list” is scarier than traditional horrors.

In addition, 29% said that over the past five years their greatest fears have changed and new phobias have replaced old ones.
