The art
«Dad – says his daughter – had started painting many years ago and then dedicated himself to sculpture using wood, copper and alabaster». And in the 1960s he began to exhibit his works. His works, Giorgio Falossi wrote in Arte a Livorno, were «sculptures that enclose the author’s poetry in the relationship between man and freedom, which arises from within, a smooth messenger of history. Furio Allori fixes in a perennial wave the contours of a world that has the harmonious voice of a soul that soars beyond the weights of matter towards a fantastic reality, towards truths that go beyond common feeling”. A graduate in literature, Allori was also a graphic designer, engraver and writer. He has in fact published books of poems and stories as well as holding exhibitions and having participated in prizes and exhibitions, one of which is the Rotonda prize.
The profession
In addition to creating, Professor Allori read a lot. And he passed on his many passions to the students who, day after day, listened to his Italian lessons in class. At the beginning of his career, Furio Allori taught on the island of Elba and then, among other positions, he was a teacher of Italian at the Mazzini and at the XI Maggio. He really liked teaching and those who knew him describe him as a trained professional and a passionate teacher. «Dad also had many passions – says his daughter Elena -. He loved books, for example. And then he was a collector. He collected stamps, first and foremost, but not only.”
