Who Will Be the Next James Bond? Analysis and Possible Candidates | Esquire Article

Discussions about who will be the next James Bond are raging with new vigor. As you know, Daniel Craig was last seen in this role in the movie “No Time To Die” and now the place of agent 007 is vacant, reports Esquire.

Exactly one year ago, at the BFI event in honor of the 60th anniversary of Bond’s debut in Dr. No Wilson said they were looking for an actor around the same age as Daniel Craig when he became Bond. There will be no James Bond Jr.

“In the past, we’ve tried to go for younger people,” Wilson said. “But when you try to visualize it, it doesn’t work. Remember, Bond is already a veteran. He has some experience. He’s a man who’s been through wars.”

There is a real iron rule in the Bondiad: no one over 40 should approach the role.

“He [Bonds] not a guy out of high school that you can bring in and start,” Wilson said. “That’s why it’s good for a 30-year-old.”

But what makes Bond? Barbara Broccoli says he’s a more fluid character now than he used to be. So that means James Bond doesn’t have to be white. Bond “has to be British,” Broccoli said in 2021, adding that “anyone can be British [etniskās piederības vai rases pārstāvis]”.

According to Esquire, there are currently countless candidates for the role of agent 007, see some of them in the photo gallery.
