This year, prizes at the Baden regional wine and sparkling wine awards go to cooperatives in Burkheim and Glottertal. Sasbach and Waltershofen are also represented.
The jury of the Baden Winegrowers Association tasted almost 2,500 wines and sparkling wines. 109 winegrowers and winegrowers’ cooperatives (WG) submitted to the evaluation by the wine experts. According to a press release, winemaking president Rainer Zeller praised the high quality of the wines at the award ceremony on the island of Mainau. The prizes were presented by the Baden wine queen Julia Noll and association manager Holger Klein from Freiburg. In addition to the honorary prizes from the regional wine awards, the top ten trophies were also awarded for the best-rated wines in the red, white and noble sweet categories. With eight top ten awards, the Oberkircher WG was at the forefront this year.
Burkheim winemaker
For the sixth time, the Burkheim winery cooperative was able to accept the honorary award for sparkling wine. “After the Burkheim winemakers received the state honorary award for the best sparkling wine producer in 2016, 2018 and 2019 as well as in 2020 and 2022, it is great joy to receive this award again this year,” writes Lorena Koch, who works at the Burkheim cooperative Marketing is responsible. Grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Muscat and Sauvignon blanc are grown as single varieties, she emphasizes, and the Burkheimers also serve a Pinot brut, which is made from a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc.
Roter Bur Glottertal
The Glottertäler wine cooperative Roter Bur is also pleased to hear the news of receiving an honorary award: “We are particularly pleased to have received an honorary award at the Baden Winegrowers Association’s state wine awards for the seventh time in a row,” writes cellar master Norbert Faller. These successes confirm the pursuit of quality in the Glottertal and provide further motivation. Advantage of awards for consumers: “These awards allow customers to better orientate themselves in the large wine market,” says Norbert Faller.
Sasbach and Waltershofen
In the northern Kaiserstuhl, the Jörg Wiedemann winery from Sasbach won an honorary award. The Hercher winery from FreiburgWaltershofen am Tuniberg received a state honorary award.
