The singer’s fans remember well the fall from the stairs he suffered last year. On January 25, 2022, in his Parisian home, the artist fell from the stairs.

The accident almost cost the life of the lyricist’s companion Patrick Loiseau. The fall had in fact caused a cerebral hemorrhage. After his hospitalization, Dave remained in a coma during 4 days.

The sad consequences of this fall

On October 29, 2023, the singer was on the microphone of the radio station RTL. While he presented his memoirs, he returned to this unfortunate accident which forced him to stay hospitalized for several months.

“I don’t really remember anything. I just see the immense change in my companion, Patrick Loiseau, who treats me as if I were Jean d’Ormesson 15 days before his death. Because we called him to say: ‘come on, we don’t think he’ll make it through the night’. So, for him, it’s a monstrous memory,” says Dave.

During the interview, the singer said that this fall caused him after-effects from which Dave still suffers to this day. Moreover, the consequences are difficult for him to live with on a daily basis.

As the artist reveals, it was when he woke up in the hospital that he discovered the seriousness of his accident. Once he came out of the coma, he realized that food had a “fairly insignificant” taste. It was only a little later that he realized that he had lost his sense of taste and smell.

“A lot of people are experiencing this because of Covid. (…)For me, it was because of the brain hemorrhage,” he recalled.

“It’s a huge sadness for me”

Losing his sense of taste and smell was terrible for Dave, who is a true epicurean. Because of his accident, he can no longer enjoy the dishes he loved to prepare before.

“It’s a huge sadness for me. I am a true epicurean. I love to eat, I love to cook. I love drinking good wine… But I don’t taste anything anymore,” regrets the man who had a heart attack in 2011.
