The Iranian-backed rebels said in a statement, “The Yemeni armed forces launched a large batch of drones during the past hours at several targets in the Zionist entity in occupied Palestine, and they reached their goals.”

The statement added, “The Yemeni armed forces continue to carry out their military operations in support of the oppression of the Palestinian people.”

This attack comes a day after the Houthis pledged more attacks against Israel if it continued its war in Gaza, saying they had launched drones and ballistic missiles in three separate operations.

The Houthis took control of the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, in 2014 and now rule large areas of the country. They previously carried out strikes on Saudi Arabia and the UAE in response to a military campaign against them led by Riyadh.

The Israeli army said that a “penetration by an enemy aircraft” led to the sounding of sirens in Eilat, overlooking the Red Sea.

He later added that he intercepted a surface-to-surface missile fired towards Israeli territory.

Israel accused the Houthis of launching another drone attack on Friday, saying that its planes intercepted “hostile targets” heading towards the south of the country.

Meanwhile, six people were slightly injured by shrapnel falling at the Egyptian Taba resort on the opposite side of the border, according to what the Egyptian army said.

On October 19, the US Navy announced that it shot down three cruise missiles and several drones launched by the Houthis towards Israel.

Israel has been bombing Gaza since the October 7 attack, when Hamas militants stormed the border and, according to Israeli officials, killed more than 1,400 people, most of them civilians, and kidnapped more than 230 others.

Israel’s retaliatory bombing campaign killed 8,796 people, most of them women and children, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health.

There are major concerns about the expansion of the conflict in the region.

In addition to Yemen, there are pro-Iranian fighters in Iraq and Syria.

Since the start of the war in Gaza, there have been a series of attacks on American forces in Iraq and Syria, in addition to almost daily exchanges of bombing and gunfire across the Israeli-Lebanese border between Hezbollah and the Israeli army.
