Humanitarian Aid for Gaza Strip Continues to Flow from Indonesia

Jakarta

Humanitarian aid for communities in Gaza Strip, Palestine, continues to flow. Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) said that the aid that had been collected in Indonesia would be sent in the form of goods according to the needs of the people in Gaza.

“Yes, there is a lot of (assistance) and this is what was said earlier, coordinating, these three (organizations) are coordinating, but behind it are many other organizations,” said Foreign Ministry spokesman Lalu Muhamad Iqbal in his office, Wednesday (1/11/2023).

Lalu said that this humanitarian assistance did not only come from the government, but also from humanitarian institutions in Indonesia.
Then he said that there were three humanitarian organizations collecting aid for Gaza, namely the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Baznas, and the Indonesian Humanitarian Forum.

“(Help) in the form of goods. Valuethat’s it,” said Lalu.

On the same occasion, Niniek Kun Naryatie representing the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) said that PMI collected donations to be sent to Gaza amounting to IDR 2.9 billion. Niniek said the aid consisted of electricity generators and oxygen cylinders.

“We at PMI have prepared aid to be sent to Gaza in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs worth IDR 2.9 billion. Currently the aid is already at PMI,” said Niniek.

Then the Indonesian Humanitarian Forum also collected assistance from the community amounting to IDR 5 billion. The assistance consists of food to blankets and mattresses.

“We have collected support from the people of the Republic of Indonesia to date amounting to approximately IDR 5 billion. But we realize that this situation cannot be supported only once or twice. But this is a process that will take quite a long time,” said the representative from the Indonesian Humanitarian Forum, Ali Yusuf.

Assistance was also collected by the Indonesian Zakat and Amil Agency (Baznas). M. Imdadun Rahmat as Deputy 2 of Baznas said that the total donations that had been collected were IDR 1.7 billion and had been spent in the form of goods such as medicines and clothing.

“For this first stage, we have spent donations in the form of goods worth Rp. 1.7 billion, which God willing, we will entrust to the first group on the day it will be released this weekend,” he said.
