Dubai, 1st November / WAM / The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme, announced the agenda of the “Knowledge Summit 2023”, which will be held on the 21st and 22nd of November at the Dubai World Trade Center, in addition to a virtual day on the 23rd of the same month. Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him.”
The details of the summit were announced during a press conference organized by the Foundation at the Dubai Press Club, in the presence of His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, Executive Director of the Foundation, Khaled Abdel Shafi, Director of the Regional Center for Arab States at the United Nations Development Programme, and Dr. Hani Turki, Chief Technical Advisor at the United Nations Development Programme.
The summit will hold its eighth session under the slogan “Knowledge Cities and the Fifth Industrial Revolution” and focuses on the role of knowledge in laying the foundations of knowledge cities, which constitute basic pillars of the future economic model, provide stimulating environments for innovation and creativity, and improve the quality of life of individuals and the development of societies.
The summit attracts experts and specialists in various fields from all over the world to exchange experiences and transfer knowledge. Its agenda includes a series of sessions, workshops and lectures by a group of key speakers and provides a platform to shed light on the latest technologies and innovations in various fields.
The summit devotes a wide space to the technologies of the Fifth Industrial Revolution and the comprehensive transformation it has brought about in traditional business models and its role in improving communication between individuals, digital systems and automated equipment, enhancing cybersecurity, saving energy and improving the overall performance of networks.
During its sessions, the summit will highlight the results of the “Global Knowledge Index,” the unique index of its kind in the world with the aim of monitoring the knowledge reality at the level of countries around the world, knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the countries covered by the index, and focusing attention on the correlation between knowledge and development and ways to keep pace with changes.
His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb stressed that the summit aims to highlight the vital role of knowledge in achieving sustainable development and review the major trends affecting the foundations of future cities. He pointed out that the summit sessions will address in-depth important topics that include enhancing the role of knowledge in building the economies and societies of the future and studying ways to Employing innovative technologies to achieve sustainable development goals, confront global challenges, stimulate creativity and innovation, and accelerate and facilitate access to knowledge resources using artificial intelligence technology.
He explained that organizing the summit comes within the context of efforts and endeavors aimed at supporting the UAE’s vision of empowering individuals with knowledge and providing them with future skills, noting that the summit, as the most prominent knowledge event in the world, constitutes a leading platform for exchanging experiences and ideas and supports the paths of production and dissemination of knowledge around the world.
Bin Huwaireb expressed the Foundation’s pride in its strategic partnership with the United Nations Development Program and close bilateral cooperation in implementing many projects and initiatives aimed at disseminating knowledge, such as the “Global Knowledge Index” and the “Future Skills for All” initiative.
For his part, Khaled Abdel Shafi said that the Knowledge Summit is one of the most prominent knowledge events that discusses the future of the world and its challenges, providing a platform to enhance cooperation between the poles of the scientific, academic and knowledge communities and highlighting the importance of science, technology and innovation in achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of life of members of communities around the world.
Abdul Shafi expressed his pride in the partnership with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation and bilateral cooperation in organizing this summit, given its influential role in promoting innovation, advancing sustainable development, and consolidating the bonds of international cooperation in the fields of science, technology and education.
For his part, Dr. Hani Turki said: “Through our partnership with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, we aim to achieve sustainable development in the Arab region by working to launch initiatives that aim to enhance the capabilities of countries to build knowledge societies, including, for example, the Global Knowledge Index and the “ “Future Skills for All” which aims to provide opportunities to develop and enhance the skills of citizens of the Arab region via the Internet.
