Efficient Customs Clearance Procedures for Exhibits at CIIE in Shanghai

CCTV news:On November 5, the sixth CIIE will kick off in Shanghai. The reporter learned from Shanghai Customs that since the first entry of the sixth CIIE was successfully inspected and released on September 21, Shanghai Customs has completed the smooth entry clearance and release of 146 batches of exhibits. It is expected that exhibits will enter the country intensively in the next few days.

Recently, a large CNC grinding machine for metal processing was delivered directly to the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Center after entering Shanghai Pudong Airport. After being unpacked and inspected by the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Center customs, it was safely admitted and started to set up the exhibition. It is understood that generally after the CIIE exhibits arrive in Shanghai, the customs at the port will conduct on-site disassembly and inspection. However, this CIIE will move the inspection port to the exhibition venue for oversized exhibits that are inconvenient to dismantle. Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Center will conduct customs inspection and you can enter the exhibition directly after confirmation.

Ding Ning, Chief of the Third Section of Customs Exhibition Supervision at the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Center:We implement joint processing between the customs at the place of entry and the customs at the Convention and Exhibition Center for special imported exhibits at the CIIE. Enterprises do not need to apply to the port customs for out-of-town inspections. Instead, the customs at the Convention and Exhibition Center will be stationed nearby for inspection.

While the “big” exhibits were being put up in full swing, on October 30, the first batch of cultural artworks to be exhibited at this year’s CIIE also completed customs approval and were gradually leaving the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone. For cultural artworks, the customs has also adjusted its declaration methods to reduce customs clearance time and costs for enterprises.

Lu Xiaochen, deputy section chief of the Comprehensive Business Section of the Bonded Zone Customs:In the past, when fine arts entered the country, customs had to verify the approval documents issued by the relevant industry authorities. Now, they only verify the documents when they are actually imported, exported, and exhibited. At the same time, this approval document can be used for multiple purposes within the validity period, encouraging enterprises to enter and exit in batches and declare collectively, thus greatly reducing the time and cost of customs clearance.
