Location: De Meerwende Care Center, Kamerlingh Onneslaan 131, Badhoevedorp. The program starts at 7:30 PM. People with dementia, informal caregivers and healthcare professionals are cordially invited to this free, inspiring and, above all, positive meeting.
Music and movement are very close to each other. When you hear music, you can hardly sit still. This applies to everyone. Also for people with dementia. There is increasing evidence that music has impressive positive effects. Research shows that music can cause people to exercise, experience more relaxation and pleasure, experience less fear and pain and get into a better sleep and wake rhythm. Not infrequently, listening to (the right) music brings back all kinds of memories, stories and emotions and thus brings out moments of happiness, sadness and joy with music.
Music is one of the last things in the brain to leave and that is partly why music can help people with dementia. Music therapist Anne-Wil Urbach, who works at Brentano, knows all about this. She brings many things to life with her guitar. A recognition, a laugh, a dance, a memory, a song, a beautiful conversation. She will explain how she does this on November 9 in the Alzheimer Café in Badhoevedorp. Discussion leader Marianne Kuntzel, Customer Coordinator Haarlemmermeer home Instead, talks to her about the positive effects of music and how you can use it at home. Of course, talking doesn’t stop there. Anne-Wil takes her guitar with her as a matter of course and that guarantees many beautiful sing-along songs.
